Arcadia Condominiums
Arcadia Road, Singapore

The Arcadia Condominium was conceived to create a garden living with the effect of a "Hanging Garden of Babylon".

The condominium consists of
3 blocks of luxurious apartments in 152 units of standard apartments at approximately 345m2;
8 units of posh penthouses of approximately 700m2; and
4 units of marionettes of approximately 560m2 over a garden setting of 4 hectares.

Each block was conceived in the form of four wings rising up independently from the ground, stepping backwards on cantilever over a large central open landscaped atrium and converge at 7th floor to form a compression ring before continuing to rise vertically.

A total of 11km long planter boxes at front and rear were provided to create the "hanging garden" effect and to visually soften the impact of the massive building behind. To further capture the natural feeling of a garden, a fountain was provided at the center atrium of each block to serve with a background sound of moving water.

The condominium's facilities include a clubhouse with 3 squash courts, a half-Olympic size swimming pool, a wading pool, and cycling and jogging tracks.

Of the 7th sale of URA major projects, this project is the first in Singapore to obtain Planning and Buildling Plan approval, Temporary Occupation License and Certificate of Fitness.

The project was on negotiation contract with Paul Y. Construction, costing approximately $100 million to build over a short 20 months period.
